TOTTENHAM have not made demands on Millwall that Troy Parrott has to play a certain amount of games, according to Lions boss Gary Rowett.
Millwall confirmed a season-long loan deal for Spurs’ highly-rated 18-year-old Ireland international over the weekend.
Rowett sees Parrott – who has made four senior appearances for Tottenham – getting plenty of action for the Lions.
Millwall took Jayson Molumby on loan from Premier League Brighton for the 2019-20 season. Molumby eventually forced his way into the side to play 40 times under previous boss Neil Harris and Rowett.
“We wouldn’t take a player that we had to play all the time, we wouldn’t do that,” Rowett said. “But what we are going to do is give Troy game-time and help him develop.
“It’s like when we take any player on loan, it’s up to me and the coaches to get the best out of the player and help him develop.
“He’ll play plenty of football, but at the same time he knows that just like any other player he’ll have to deliver performances.
“I think that’s the bit that he’s excited about, going from playing mainly under-23s football to Championship, which is completely different.
“There’ll be a few bumps but we’ll help him get as good a season as we can.”
Meanwhile, Rowett didn’t confirm if Spurs have a recall option on the striker.
He said: “I don’t know what’s in there, to be honest. Alex [Aldridge] and Steve [Kavanagh] have done the financial side of the deal. That’s not something I would be particularly interested in.
“I would imagine that if he’s unbelievable and Tottenham want him back in January there’s always that mutual respect there that we wouldn’t stand in his way to go back to them.”
