MILLWALL boss Neil Harris is set to ring the changes for the first round of the EFL Cup at West Brom on Tuesday night.
The sides met in the Championship on Saturday when Matt Smith’s equaliser earned the Lions a point.
Luke Steele (above) is set to make his debut in goal, while summer signings Jason McCarthy and Jayson Molumby could also feature for the first time.
“There will be changes Tuesday, mainly because players deserve to play,” Harris said. “Players have earned the right over the course of pre-season to play in that game and try to show everybody their qualities and grab the shirt off others.
“I really look forward to Tuesday night now.”
Harris made three changes at the weekend – one enforced, with Bart Bialkowski replacing the injured Frank Fielding – despite the opening-day 1-0 win over Preston in the league.
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is also in contention for his first start.
Harris said: “I’m going to pick teams that I think suit the opposition home and away and that suits us as a group, who trains well and who deserves to play. We thought [Saturday] that we could really hurt West Brom with a defensive shape and the counter-attack to get the ball down the sides of them.
“I saw West Brom’s quality last week against Nottingham Forrest and they’ve got some really good players and a really good team. I thought it was really key to be defensively sound to get a foothold in the game.
“I thought in the last half hour that we might need the changes and the game might open up a little bit. So the game went the way we expected, but I did not expect to concede a goal like we did.”
