MILLWALL boss Gary Rowett said Monday’s training session was “very lively” as he weighs up his team selection against Blackburn Rovers at The Den on Tuesday evening.
Mahlon Romeo and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson didn’t train, but Mason Bennett should be in contention to start back-to-back games for just the second time since joining from Derby in January.
The Lions are aiming for a first league win at home in eight games to boost their play-off hopes, against a side two points behind them in the Championship.
“The training ground was positive, as it always is off the back of a win, and we’re right back in the mix,” Rowett said.
“It was a very lively training session, everyone’s feeling incredibly positive. Unfortunately at this stage of the season when you’re so far down the line one win or one defeat can completely polarise how you feel.
“Everyone’s trained really well and we’re ready to go for the game. There are the usual few bumps and bruises but everyone seems to forget that when you’ve just won a game.”
Bennett has been one of Millwall’s most incisive attacking players since his move from the Rams, and could be key to stretching a Blackburn defence.
Rowett said: “That’s a debate we’ll have, whether or not he can [start consecutive games]. Certainly he’s ready to do that and it’s my call what we need, whether we need to freshen up.
“We made five changes for the Hull game, I wouldn’t anticipate making another five. At the moment you’re always trying to freshen little pieces of the jigsaw up just to make sure we get through the game.
“It’s obviously an important game and we need to give ourselves the best chance of at least going out to try to win it.
“Blackburn are a good side and they’re still in the mix, so it’s going to be a big game.”
