An indie rock band that supported The Libertines will perform at the Brandon Estate’s Coronation Party in Kennington, a film location used in hit series The Crown.
The Molotovs, who have been compared to The Sex Pistols for their “fast and furious” performances, will take to the stage on Sunday, May 7.
The Brandon Estate Tenants’ and Residents’ Association has said: “The Molotovs are a Post-Punk/Mod/Rock&Rollers band quickly gaining a reputation on the London and UK circuit for their performances that leave nothing in the dressing room.
“Cool, iconic covers from the 50’s to present day merge effortlessly with sharp, raw and catchy originals.”
Brandon was used as a filming location for Netflix’s fifth season of The Crown. The Jack Hobbs and the Rachel Leigh community centres, on the estate were featured hosting Prince’s Trust events. The Prince’s Trust charity was founded in 1976 by King Charles to help disadvantaged young people.
In the ’90s, The Trust launched a series of new initiatives including a mentoring schemes for teenagers leaving care and young offenders.
Actor Dominic West who played the then Prince Charles in this series was among the cast on set on the Kennington estate.
On Sunday there will be a street market where traders will sell a range of craft goods and a variety of street food including British classics like cakes and tea.
The Priscillas, an all-female glam punk outfit that soared to fame in the mid-2000s, will also play.
The Brandon Estate’s Coronation Celebration will run from 12am until 5pm, on Sunday, May 7 at Brandon Estate, SE17 3NX.
