Local businesses can compete to win a pancake feast by racing others at a Bankside Pancake Day event, and all the money raised will go towards feeding those in need.
This Shrove Tuesday (February 21) Better Bankside is hosting a pancake race at Marlborough Sports Garden where teams of local businesses can compete to win a feast of pancakes.
Taking place between 12 pm and 2 pm, the pancake race will see up to twenty teams of four compete in pancake relay races through the gardens, which will be commented on by local area expert, Mr Londoner.

The winning team will win a pancake feast at Flat Iron Square’s Where The Pancakes Are.
Anyone who takes part will receive a free pancake at Crêpes à la carte, which will be selling pancakes from 11.30 am – 1.30 pm at Marlborough Sports Gardens on the day.
The cost to enter the pancake day race is £25 per team, 100 per cent of which will go to London charity Plan Zheroes, which works with businesses across the capital to redistribute surplus food to local charities and community groups. The event is back for the first time since the pandemic.
Nicole Gordon, CEO of Better Bankside said: “It’s brilliant to see the pancake day race return to Bankside again after pausing for the pandemic.
“This event has always been hugely popular with our local businesses and is a great way for everyone to take a break from the daily grind and have some fun with their colleagues.
“We are thankful to Bankside Open Spaces Trust for letting us host this event on Marlborough Sports Gardens’ turf. This recreational area provides much-needed access to physical activity, sport, and leisure pursuits in the Bankside neighbourhood.”
Recorra will compost pancakes from the races, the Business Improvement District’s recycling partner, who works with Bankside businesses to help them and the district reduce their impact on the environment.
