A Bermondsey man was startled to be woken by armed police in his back garden in the early hours of Monday morning (June 6).
Ben Brown, who lives in Marden Square on Drummond Road, shared footage of the officer brandishing a gun in his garden at around 1am.
“I just heard these noises in the garden,” he said. “We saw this armed police officer waving a gun around, it was pretty alarming.”
In the video, the officer walks across the garden checking the doors of some kind of storage facility, while another man says “armed police, step back inside”.
It’s unclear what police were doing in the Drummond Road estate, and officers have not yet been able to provide any details. Local residents have taken to social media to find out what was going on. The News have put in enquiries and will update when police respond.
Police were still on the estate at about 12.30pm on Monday, although the armed officers had gone by then.
