A topping out ceremony was held at a development of 25 new council homes in Newington this week.
Councillors from Southwark and representatives from construction company Guildmore, the contractors, attended the event on Monday, July 26, to unveil a new plaque to mark the occasion.
Rutley Close is being built on the site of a former bungalow block and car park podium. The new homes, expected to be finished early next year, will also have a landscaped courtyard.
Councillor Stephanie Cryan said she was thrilled with the project.
“The new building will have a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes to suit a range of needs and will provide a modern, high-quality development that will complement the surrounding area,” she explained.
“With over 15,000 households on our housing waiting list, these new homes are desperately-needed and will be a huge boost for the local community”.
