Southwark Council confirmed that it would not punish former head of social housing Leo Pollak after he broke its code of conduct last year.
South Bermondsey Labour councillor Pollak was found to have broken the code by an independent investigation after he used an anonymous Twitter account to ‘harangue’ people who did not want the council to build more social housing on existing estates.
The external law firm’s report recommended that Cllr Pollak not be punished further, after he apologised and stepped down from his cabinet job.
The audit, governance and standards meeting on Monday night (January 10), confirmed that no further sanctions would take place.
Lib Dem committee member Cllr Humaira Ali pointed out that several Southwark residents she spoke to ahead of the meeting were unhappy with the recommendations of the report, after Cllr Pollak was “caught out in spectacular fashion”.
