SE1’s Great Dover Street has been closed in both directions this evening after a car collided with a tree.
The emergency services were working to free the driver from his vehicle at the time of publication, according to a police spokesperson.
The motorist, believed to be in his thirties, was involved in the collision at around 8.25pm. His condition is not known.
Other emergency services have also been called to the scene of the collison, including the London Ambulance Service, Fire Brigade and Air Ambulance.
A Met Police spokesperson told the News shortly after 9pm: “Police were called at approximately 20:25hrs on Sunday, 23 June to reports of a car in collision with a tree on Great Dover Street, SE1.
“Officers, the London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended.
“The road has been closed to traffic.”
The route 21 bus service has also been put in diversion while the emergency services deal with the scene.
“Route 21 is diverted via New Kent Road, London Road and Borough Road following Great Dover Street closure due to road traffic collision. Reverse diversion on the return journey,” said TfL shortly before 9pm.
“Stops on Great Dover Street are not served.”
