A man has been fatally stabbed on Old Kent Road with police arresting two people.
Police were called to the scene at 7.02am this morning (Tuesday, January 9) following reports of a stabbing.
Emergency services found a man suffering knife injuries. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, he died at the scene twenty minutes later.
Officers have arrested a man and a woman who remain in custody.
A crime scene and cordon remain in place and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 07:02hrs on Tuesday, 9 January to reports of a stabbing at Old Kent Road, SE1.
“Officers, London’s Air Ambulance [HEMS] and London Ambulance Service [LAS] attended. At the scene a man was found with knife injuries.
“Despite the efforts of emergency services to save him, the victim sadly died at the scene at 07:22hrs.
“Officers have arrested one man and one woman. They remain in custody at this time. A crime scene and cordons remain in place.
“Enquiries are underway to identify the victim and notify next of kin. A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
“Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have been notified. Enquiries are ongoing.”
