Waterloo’s Morley College could merge with Kensington and Chelsea College if its plans are successful.
The merger, which would see Kensington & Chelsea College being incorporated into Morley, would unlock Government funding of up to £32.3million says the SE1-based establishment.
A consultation into the plans closes at 5pm on Wednesday.
“The funding will provide significant capital investment at the Chelsea and North Kennington centres while supporting the maintenance and development of a responsive curriculum offer across all three centres,” said Dr Stuart Edwards and Ian Valvona, chairs of the two governing bodies at the respective institutions.
“We believe there is a good curriculum fit between the two colleges, and with the financial support pledged by Government, the merger provides a unique opportunity to develop sustainable, community-based education.”
Feedback from the detailed consultation will be published on November 7, while the proposed merger would go ahead on a suggested date of February 3, 2020 if successful.
