A 50-year-old man died in the McDonald’s on Old Kent Road on Friday evening (October 22).
Eyewitnesses described several emergency service vehicles outside the restaurant from about 6pm. The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious, police said.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “Police were called at approximately 17:55hrs on Friday, 22 October to reports of a man found unresponsive at a restaurant in Old Kent Road, SE1.
“Officers attended and provided emergency first aid until the arrival of London Ambulance Service. A 50-year-old man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and officers will assist with preparing a report for the coroner.”
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 6.04pm on Friday to reports of a person unwell in Old Kent Road, Southwark.
“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene. Sadly the patient died at the scene.”
McDonald’s has been contacted for comment. This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
