Lynn’s Frankie Hanratty bounced back from defeat to claim a unanimous win at the Broad Street Show in Dagenham last weekend.
Hanratty fought Shakir Ahmed from Broad Street ABC after his original opponent pulled out.
Lynn coach Terry Pearson was delighted with how his fighter responded to losing his previous bout.
“This time out we were really looking for a convincing win as in Frankie’s last bout we believe he was hard-done-by and lost on a majority decision,” Pearson said.
“So this time he set the pace from the very first bell. He boxed to instruction throughout the fight, catching his opponent with endless backhands and was working well to both body and head and walked away with a unanimous win.
“I am so pleased for Frankie. This win is well overdue as he works so hard in and out of the gym and you couldn’t ask for a nicer bloke to train.”
Hanratty and three of his club-mates will be competing in a London belt challenge competition for novice boxers which will be held at the Roundhouse in Dagenham on June 11 and 12.
Meanwhile, former Lynn fighter Ellis Zorro beat Ricky Reeves to win the BOXXER series cruiserweight tournament in Manchester last Saturday night.
Zorro, 29, won the three-round bout on two scores of 29-28 and one of 30-27. That was after a quarter-final and semi-final on the same night.
Lewisham’s Zorro (14-0) pocketed £40,000 for winning the eight-man tournament as he also secured a contract with promoters BOXXER and Sky Sports.
“I want to start fighting for titles,” Zorro told Sky Sports.
“My coaches were telling me keep my composure and that’s what I did in all three fights.
“These guys were calling me out but it was a waste of time and energy as I showed no-one here was at my level.”
