A man has been charged with firearm offences after a loaded gun was found in a bag thrown from a car in Rotherhithe.
In the early hours of February 3, officers spotted a BMW linked to a man wanted in connection with the assault of a woman in north-west London.
The car failed to stop for police and a bag was thrown from the vehicle on Plough Way.
Two people evaded the police after fleeing on foot but police recovered the discarded bag which contained a loaded firearm.
Police then searched an address in Lewisham on February 16 which led to the discovery of a second loaded firearm.
Two men, aged 24 and in their 50s, have been arrested. The 24-year-old was subsequently charged with offences including possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition.
The older man was bailed pending further enquiries.
