There were reports at the weekend of a bus being held up by a ‘machete-wielding’ teenager, who allegedly stole iPhones and ear pods from terrified passengers on the 343 bus in Elephant and Castle.
A 17-year-old male was arrested the same day, and charged with two counts of attempted robbery, possession of a knife/bladed article, and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.
Police were reportedly told by onlookers at 6pm on Sunday, June 12 where the suspect had gone.
Southwark Police tweeted: “Male just committed knifepoint robbery on bus.
“Ran from police but caught with machete in sheath, several stolen iPhones and ear pods.
“To top it off, he was wanted for 5 separate offences including further robberies!”
A youth, who cannot be named, due to his age, was due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 14 June, in relation to the incident.
