A surprise party will be held next week at Little Acorns Day Nursery in Bermondsey to celebrate an “eccentric and crazy” staff member’s 40th year in childcare.
The secret shindig will take place on December 16 for Caroline Phelan, who is also marking her 15th year at the Drummond Road nursery.
Ellen Spender, the centre’s deputy manager, said: “She is the Mother Hen to all of us – just lovely, and she loves her job with a passion. Eccentric and crazy are two words I would use to describe her.
“She is very supportive, a fantastic person to have around, a good team player. The kids love her, the parents love her. Caroline is a very special lady and her dedication and passion for her work really does deserve to be celebrated.”
Caroline has worked with children since the age of 19, working with charity Save the Children before joining Little Acorns.
Don’t forget, the party is a secret – so don’t spoil the surprise! Caroline’s husband has even been instructed to keep her from buying this week’s issue of the News.
All past and current parents colleagues at the nursery, as well as friends and family, are invited to celebrate Caroline at Little Acorns, Prestwood House, Drummond Road, Bermondsey, SE16 4BU on December 16 from 7pm to 10pm.
