People are being asked to plan ahead following news of road and bridge closures in Southwark for a massive cycling challenge this weekend.
On Sunday 28 May, there will be three mass participation rides taking place across the capital, resulting in various road closures for most of the day.
RideLondon is an annual festival of cycling, hosted by the Mayor of London. It was set up as an annual legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The RideLondon-Essex routes will start on Victoria Embankment and finish at Tower Bridge.
There are expected to be 25,000 riders taking part.
The road closures are:
- Tooley Street, A200 (from 4 am – 9 pm)
- Tower Bridge Road, A100 (from 4 am – 7:30 pm)
- Bermondsey Street (from 4 am – 7:30 pm)
In addition, these bridges will be closed from 4 am – 7:30 pm:
- Southwark Bridge
- Tower Bridge
- Waterloo Bridge
- Westminster Bridge
