Police are appealing for witnesses after a 23-year-old man was shot in Lewisham.
Officers were called to Grace Close, Mottingham, SE9, just before 7pm on Monday 2 May.
The man was rushed to hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his foot. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Detective Inspector Kevin Ricketts said: “This incident, in which a young man was injured, happened in a residential street in the early evening – a time when members of the public were going about their business as usual.
“Police and communities must work together to apprehend violent offenders and we would like anyone who saw anything at all to come and speak to us in confidence. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, might prove vital to finding the person or people responsible.
“Understandably, members of the local community will be worried by this, but I can assure residents that we are doing everything we can to establish the circumstances and identify everyone linked to this incident.
“While residents are right to be concerned, fortunately firearms discharges are extremely rare.
“You can expect to see additional patrols in the area over the coming days, and I would urge local people to approach officers on patrol to discuss any information or concerns they have with them.”
Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made. Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 and give the CAD number 5900/02May.
