London Libraries last week unearthed documents from the thirties giving public health advice, and it seems much applies to today.
“Your son and heir needs sun and air,” ran one public health slogan from Bermondsey Borough Council. Another: “Catch your cold quickly in your hankie, don’t broadcast germs!”
But perhaps the most bizarre is this: “Habits make health. Good habits = good health; bad habits = Nunhead.”
“Some useful advice here,” it says. “Though what they had against the people of #Nunhead remains a mystery!”
