Millwall Supporters’ Club is appealing for fans to help fund a special Christmas lunch for elderly residents after it said it was let down by a sponsor.
The three-course lunch with drinks, a DJ and dancing after is due to be held for 80 local OAPs in partnership with Southwark and Lewisham Age UK, on Thursday, December 19.
But after they said one of the event’s key sponsors for the event pulled out last minute, the club has been left scrambling to meet the cost, trying to do everything it can to make sure the lunch goes ahead as planned. They need to raise £2,000.
Danielle Lake, from Millwall Supporters’ Club, said: “On behalf of all Millwall fans, the Millwall Supporters’ Club regularly lead projects which help benefit the local community and help create memories which will last a life time.
“Along with repair of an emergency response vehicle and relaying a garden for a young fan to enjoy with her brother, this season we have decided to host an Age UK Christmas Event at The Den for the elderly in the local area.
“Support and contributions so far have been well received, but we have unfortunately been let down with regards to the sponsorship of the event, so therefore we desperately need help in part funding the event.
“We would like to give our guests a day to remember and with the help of the local area and residents we can do just that!”
