A Camberwell-based dancer was still able to remain positive despite getting the deadliest form of malaria on holiday and waking up from a coma with no arms or legs.
Tatiana Timon was on a dance trip to Angola when she unknowingly contracted malaria which later turned into sepsis.
This meant she had to have her limbs amputated meaning she had to stop doing what she loves – dancing. When we interviewed her she was in recovery and was raising money for new prosthetics which would allow her to dance again.
She has raised over £30,000 so far – and continues to show gratitude even though she experienced many people’s worst nightmares.
The 35-year-old told us: “I could have died. I could have not been here today – so that keeps me going. I understand why they did it. They had to do it to save me. So I’m grateful.”
