Goals from Ryley Scott and Kreshnic Krasniqi helped to serve up a festive treat as Dulwich Hamlet defeated Carshalton Athletic 2-1 at Champion Hill on Boxing Day.
Scott finished from close range to put Hakan Hayrettin’s side ahead in the third minute and the hosts showed no signs they had overdone it on Christmas Day as Krasniqi doubled the lead with a clinical effort from the edge of the box twelve minutes in.
Mark Marshall halved the advantage four minutes into the second half in front of a bumper attendance of 2,737 in East Dulwich.
The Hamlet were indebted to goalkeeper R’avan Constable who made some brilliant saves to help his side to the win which saw the hosts leapfrog their opponents in the Isthmian League Premier Division table.
Dulwich could have gone in 3-0 up at the break after Danny Mills found Scott only for the midfielder’s shot hit the post.
Constable came to his side’s rescue in the 73rd minute by saving Danny Bassett’s penalty conceded by Mark Ricketts.
Dulwich are up to ninth place in the table, just five points off the play-off places after only one defeat in their last eleven league games.
Hayrettin’s side play their last game of the year this Saturday when eighth-place Horsham, who are two points ahead, are the visitors to Champion Hill. Kick-off is at 3pm.
