A second man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage in connection with the removal of a Banksy roadsign artwork, police have confirmed.
The artwork was unveiled on Friday morning on the corner of Commercial Way and Southampton Way. It depicted three military drones on a red Stop sign, and has been interpreted as a critique of the war in Gaza. Its value is estimated to be around £500,000.
The artwork was removed with boltcutters not long after its unveiling, with a man shown on social media running off down the road with it. Southwark Council appealed for information and a man was arrested on Saturday, December 23rd.
On Christmas Eve, Scotland Yard said a man in his 40s had been arrested on Sunday and was in police custody, with the man detained on Saturday, in his 20s, bailed pending further inquiries. Both had been arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage.
