The UK’s ‘biggest open mic night’ for kids will return to Herne Hill next month.
JOM Open Mic Night sees young musicians treated to a fully-equipped, twelve-speaker setup and even help from a performer’s assistant.
Organiser Andy Gray has announced four events for the new year – two in January and two in February.
Herne Hill is home to the UK’s biggest open mic night for young musicians
Performers at previous nights have gone on to support major artists like Tom Odell and The Libertines, with one artist even winning The Voice UK Kids.
Andry Gray, whose work was nominated for the BBC’s Make a Difference Award, said JOM was all about “making young people feel special”.
Together, the four events cater to musicians aged four to eighteen of all musical abilities.
There are opportunities for total beginners as well as up-and-coming bands with experience of the local gigging circuit.
Some musicians have gone on to see incredible success after performing at JOM, including Sam Wilkinson who won The Voice UK Kids in 2019.
Other success stories include punk band PLAY DEAD, signed by Blitzcat Records and Lexi Caroll, who went on to support Tom Odell.
