The annual Albin’s Christmas memorial service proved a success again this year, with more than 1,600 people showing up at the event on Wednesday evening last week, David Child writes.
It was held at the Albin Memorial Garden in Southwark Park.
Simon Dyer, son of the late Barry Albin, said: “The memorial service went really well. We weren’t expecting so many would turn up and it’s great to see that people still enjoy coming after all these years.
We followed the same theme as before but we had a new special memorial video at the start this year – it was great. Our thanks to soloist Jay O’Callaghan for the music too.”
Many took to social media to declare their delight, one person described a “beautiful service, very emotional and yet very comforting to be among people who are grieving for loved ones.”
