GARY Rowett insists he is unbothered by Millwall’s poor record away at Norwich as the Lions hunt their first away win at the Canaries in almost 55 years.
The two are set to go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon in front of the Sky Sports cameras in Millwall’s first live game since May’s agonising 4-3 defeat to Blackburn.
The London club know they will be underdogs as they search for a third away win in a row in the Championship, something they have not done since 2018.
But Rowett said the stats do not make him “quiver” and believes his Millwall team are up for another triumph on the road.
He told NewsAtDen: “It feels like it, but I haven’t been the manager since 1968. So it’s probably not very relevant to me.
“Records are there to be broken. If I looked at records over the years, there’s certain teams where I would say ‘we only need to turn up and win’ because I’ve not lost against those teams.
“I don’t think it makes any difference. It’s a tough game, it’s a tough game at any point of the season. Like I said about going to Middlesbrough and playing against Michael Carrick’s team. Those are never easy places to go.
“Norwich is always a hard place to go and under David Wagner they have a very good team. They’ve recruited a few older heads that maybe are there to help drive the standards for his team. And they’ve got some talented players as well so it will be a tough game regardless of what the stats say.
“I don’t sit there quivering because we haven’t won somewhere for 60 years or whatever, it’s just another game and we have to go out there and perform. But it’s a tough game and tough games mean you have to do a little more to win it.”
