The Bermondsey star who opened her toilet to thousands of people queuing to see the Queen lying in state was on the small screen last night.
Henrietta Onyema appeared on the John Bishop Show, a chat show presented by the Liverpudlian comedian, rounding up 2022’s biggest moments, yesterday (Thursday, December 29).
British Olympian Dame Kelly Holmes, one of many who used her toilet on the day, presented her with a B.O.G (Brush of Gold) award for her service.
The News’ front page that week, with the headline ‘Royal Flush’ was also flashed up on the big screen.
On the show, Henrietta said: “It was just the love for the Queen. I went to visit the Queen on the Thursday and it took eleven hours from my house to see the Queen… so when I came back I said the least I can do now is open my toilet for everyone to use. So I was actually from my balcony shouting ‘free toilet!'”
Foster carer Henrietta, who has lived in Bermondsey for 32 years, kept her bathroom open for over 60 hours, even as she slept, from Wednesday, September 14 to Sunday, September 18.
During those days, approximately 250,000 people descend on Southwark to say their final goodbyes to the Queen who lay at the Palace of Westminster.
