Yet another Tube strike planned this Saturday on Jubilee and Northern lines

Tube drivers are set to go on strike again for 24 hours this Saturday on several lines, including the Jubilee and Northern lines, which go through Southwark.

Other lines affected will be the Piccadilly, Central and Victoria lines. Drivers on the Central and Victoria lines are also set to go on strike overnight on Friday and Saturday nights, with the Night Tube set to grind to a halt.

Transport for London (TfL) warned that the strike could mean little or no service on all of these lines on Saturday and urged passengers to use different ways of getting around.

London buses, trains, and other tube lines are all expected to be much busier as people are forced to use alternative routes around the capital.

The dispute is over work scheduling for Night Tube drivers. The RMT union, which is organising the strike, said that the schedules are being imposed on drivers.

TfL said that the strike is unnecessary and the scheduling, which involves drivers doing four night shift weekends every year, was “fair and reasonable”.

Nick Dent, London Underground’s head of customer operations, said: “We urge the RMT to call off this unnecessary strike action, which will reduce the level of service we can run at a time when coronavirus cases are rising.”

The transport agency brought back the Night Tube on the Victoria and Central lines in November amid an outcry over women’s safety.
