Hassan rescues point for Stansfeld

Stansfeld/Eltham Palace moved up to eleventh place in the SCEFL Division One table after this hard-fought draw against Snodland Town on Saturday.

Snodland’s prolific scorer Dave Sherwood came close early on, when he flashed a shot across the face of the goal that just cleared the far post with Stansfeld stopper James Bradley well beaten.

The deadlock wasn’t broken until the 84th minute when Sherwood ghosted in at the far post to volley home Tom Cackett’s cross.

That looked like it would be the winner, but just three minutes later in-form striker Ryan Hassan squeezed a shot in off the far post to rescue a point for his side.

Stansfeld/Eltham Palace are away to Phoenix Sports Reserves on Saturday, kick-off is 3pm.

The 1st Team lost 3-0 away at Kennington, while a depleted Reserves ide suffered a 5-0 defeat at Halls FC.
