Dulwich Hamlet will give cheap entry to trade union members next month for ‘Trade Union Day’

The latest inititive from the club is a joint venture with the Supporters’ Trust and on the day funds will be raised for the International Brigade Memorial Trust, set up to remember all those who lost their lives fighting fascism in Spain.

Club chairman Liam Hickey said: “We are delighted to hold our first Trade Union Day and we hope to welcome lots of people who want to experience the club for the first time.

“I would like to thank ASLEF, HOPE Not Hate, our own Supporters’ Trust & our committee member for Community Development, Mishi Morath, for their work in setting this up.

“This is another example of the various parts of club working as one to engage with all sections of our community and celebrate the achievements, both past and present, that make up the fabric of society today. “

Supporters Trust chair Duncan Hart added:  “Over the past few seasons, we have helped put on numerous community initiatives from Rainbow Laces day to support the fight against homophobia in football to fund raising for those in need of humanitarian support in Calais and Dunkirk.

“We are more than happy to commemorate the actions of these brave individuals and raise money for the International Brigade Memorial Trust.”

On the pitch in the last week Dulwich threw away another two league points last Saturday when they could only muster a 2-2 draw against Burgess Hill Town at Champion Hill.

Striker Gavin Tomlin put Hamlet ahead on the day only for Dan Pearse to level on the hour mark. Hamlet regained the lead, thanks to a Cheick Toure own goal on 74 minutes, and were heading for three points until James Richmond equalised in the final minute of the game.

In the Alan Turvey Trophy on Tuesday evening Dulwich made it through the first round of the competition thanks to a 4-0 win over Grays Athletic.

The Hamlet goals were netted by Ibrahim Kargbo, Alex Teniola, Nyren Clunis and Ashley Carew.
