Dulwich Hamlet take giant stride towards National League South safety

ONLY A dramatic collapse and a series of other results going against them will deny Dulwich Hamlet a second consecutive season in National League South after their superb 3-1 win at home to Hungerford Town at Champion Hill on Saturday.

The majority of another big crowd of 2,841 in Dulwich were thrilled by three first-half goals from Daniel Thompson, Anthony Cook and Connor Hunte.

Gavin Rose’s Hamlet never looked in any danger of letting that lead slip, though Marvel Ekpiteta did pull a goal back for Hungerford with ten minutes left.

But that was never going to spoil the party for the home fans, who are on the brink of being able to celebrate survival in their side’s first season in the sixth tier of English football.

Hamlet are now eight points clear of the Hungerford, who plunged into the last relegation spot with this result, with three games left.

Rose’s side could confirm their place in National League South over Easter weekend, when they travel to Wealdstone on Saturday before facing Woking at home on Monday.
