Comprehensive Cheam win for Dulwich CC

Dulwich picked up a comprehensive 107 run victory on Saturday as they returned to winning ways in the Ryman Surrey Championship Division Two against Cheam.

Stuart Ferguson proved to be the chief tormentor as Cheam set about chasing 191 for victory, with the bowler picking up impressive figures of 4/14 off 5.5 overs. On the day Dulwich elected to bat with skipper Michael Currey, who was the seventh wicket to fall, holding the innings together with a fine 76. Having taken 101 balls to reach his first 50 of the season, he then scored the next 26 off just 23 balls. The Dulwich innings closed on 190-9 after the allotted 50 overs.

The Cheam openers found Naeem Iqbal a real handful, his first four overs all being maidens as he produced his best spell of the season. Iqbal followed up with three wickets in his next four overs to reduce Cheam to 53-4. Iqbal finished his spell with a return of 3/14 off seven overs.

Ferguson and Frankie Brown took over the bowling and worked their way through the rest of the Cheam batting, with Brown ending with figures of 2/11. In the end Cheam were dismissed in less than 24 overs for a paltry 83. The win lifts Dulwich to joint sixth in the table, after winning two and losing two of their four 50 over matches this season.
