Haye riled ahead of heavyweight clash at O2

IT WAS an expletive-ridden press conference this week as the vitriolic build-up to David Haye’s clash with Tony Bellew continued ahead of this weekend.

Bermondsey’s former two-weight world champion Haye, and Liverpool’s current WBC cruiserweight title-holder Bellew, had to be separated by bodyguards as they hurled insults at each other in Bellew’s hometown.

In front of a group of noisy Bellew fans Haye said: “Deep in all of your tiny minds you know this guy is getting drilled to the canvas pretty fast.” Bellew, who has repeatedly called Haye “a broken man” appeared the calmer of the pair as he responded: “I am going in with a man who was absolutely fantastic.

When he was in his prime, an immense athlete – but the tank is very, very low and it does not last very long. “When the gas runs out, the big fat Scouser is going to steam through him.” Saturday’s heavyweight bout takes place at London’s O2 Arena.
