Armed police attend reports of gunshots in Borough – find out it’s a play

Five armed police attended reports of “screaming” and “gunshots” in Long Lane on the weekend, only to find out it was a play by CoLab Theatre.

Officers in Borough were called by an alarmed resident after hearing loud bangs.

The Borough Police team later said on social media: “Attended a call to gunshots/people screaming in Long Lane SE1 last night. Five ARV’s attended. Turned out to be a show by CoLab Theatre.”

They added: “Local residents had been informed about their shows but one hadn’t read the letter. Local police had no idea!”
