Trees a crowd

Herne Hill is often described as leafy, but Beckwith Road residents found themselves a little too close to nature for comfort last week when a huge tree toppled onto their house.

The fire brigade were called at around 1.30pm on Friday when the tree uprooted and tipped over, damaging a first floor window. There were no injuries.

Firefighters made the scene safe and are currently investigating the cause of the incident, which is not believed to be wind-related.
