Woman rescued from tracks at London Bridge station during evening rush hour

A woman was rescued after falling onto the tracks at London Bridge on Friday evening.

The commuter reportedly fell into the gap between the train and the platform while rushing for a train, sparking an emergency services response.

Luckily, the woman was pulled to safety before the train could pull away.

She was taken to hospital by paramedics to have her injuries assessed, but they were not thought to be serious.

One witness said: “I saw the person who was running for the train, and they disappeared under it in a flash. The driver could have so easily pulled away.

“Well done to everyone for helping and acting so quickly.”

“I was there when this happened. Have been trying to find out more. So relieved they are OK,” added another.

A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed the force was called and said: “At 8pm on 21 June, officers were called to London Bridge station following a report of a casualty on the tracks – a woman was later taken to hospital by paramedics.

“It appeared that she had fallen between the train and the platform. This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.”

The station is the fourth-busiest in London, handling over 50 million passengers a year.
