Updated: Woman left with ‘possible life-threatening’ injuries after Tower Bridge Road collision with lorry

A woman pedestrian has been left with “possible life-threatening injuries” after being in collision with a lorry on Tower Bridge Road late this morning.

Police were called to the collision at around 11.32am, which happened at the junction of Tower Bridge Road with Webb Street, close to the Bricklayers Arms roundabout.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.

The woman has been rushed to an east London hospital, and no arrests have been made.

One witness, Jim Gosnell, 86, who was sitting outside a nearby carpet shop at the time of the collision, said he heard a “terrible bang.”

The scene several hours after the crash

When he looked up, he saw the woman “lying back onto the pavement.”

“She bashed her head, so they took her away in an ambulance,” Mr Gosnell, of adjoining Green Walk, said.

“There’s cameras all around here that might’ve seen it.”

Road closures remain in place while police deal with the scene between Bricklayers Arms roundabout and stop any disease.

Bus routes 1, 188 and 42 are now returning to normal after being on diversion while the road was closed said TfL.

Traffic is reportedly flowing well on diversion.

The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also attended.
