Driver escapes after tree falls on her car in Dulwich

A Dulwich driver escaped injury when strong gusts of wind blew a tree onto her car on Tuesday afternoon.

Luckily the vehicle had slowed down to turn around in the road when the tree collapsed, lessening the collision impact and causing no injuries, according to witnesses.

One passer-by said on Twitter: “Occupants are ok. Lady was turning around when tree came down. Police and local people helping to move the tree.”

The Met Office announced a yellow warning for strong winds across much of the country on Tuesday, with powerful gusts causing problems across Southwark.
