Southwark Council celebrates 50th birthday

The council celebrated its 50th birthday with a special ceremony at Southwark Cathedral last Saturday.

The October 24 event was attended by former and current Southwark MPs and hosted by Southwark Mayor Dora Dixon-Fyle.

She said: “Marking 50 years of Southwark Council is not only a time for us to remember and give thanks for all the we have achieved, but also for us to look forward with a renewed sense of confidence that as long as we remain ‘United to Serve’ we will continue to do our very best for Southwark and its people.”
