‘One final push for Harvey’

The mum and dad of a Millwall-mad six-year-old in desperate need of a life-changing drug said “one final push” could get make sure they reach the ten thousand signatures they need to get their son’s case debated in parliament.

More than 8,000 people have already backed Harvey Brown’s campaign to get the medication he needs offered on the NHS. Local MP Neil Coyle has contacted health officials about Harvey’s plight and the News’ campaign started back in May, has led to the online petition approaching its ten thousand target.

Mum Vikki and dad, Dean, say they think the public pressure is doing the trick, after health authorities announced last week they were leaning towards approving the drug to treat the ultra-rare disease, Morquio, which could lead to little Harvey dying in his twenties.

“We really think it’s making a difference,” said Dean, 45. “We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s signed already, added Vikki, 46. “If you’ve got family members who haven’t signed it yet, please ask them. This is the final push to get over that finishing line,” said Dean.

After the News started running a campaign for Harvey in May, his beloved Millwall got on board and last month the Surrey Square Primary School pupil got to have breakfast with the players and be taken out on to the pitch at the start of the Chesterfield game.
