Dates for Walworth Road Post Office temporary closure announced

The Post Office on Walworth Road will close for one week in November for refurbishment, as it merges with a franchise partner.

The Post Office will be closed from 5.30pm on November 1, and re-open at 9am on November 6.

It was confirmed in July that after two years of looking for a franchise partner, OM SAI Enterprises (London) Ltd will move into the premises, and sell gift cards and stationary.

It also means that Post Office will cease to be a “crown” branch, and no longer offer such DVLA, ID and passport services.

The change was criticised by Peckham’s Communication Workers Union representative, Mole Meade, who said: “The biometric services includes Border Agency, DVLA, passports and ID services, which are all important for people from overseas to be able to get a job, and you can only get these services from Crown Post Offices, because providers have to be vetted by the Home Office.”

The nearest available post offices will be in Vauxhall Street and Great Dover Street.
