Charity dinner to raise funds for day centre garden and art studio

A charity dinner has been organised to raise money for the transformation of a Bermondsey day centre car park into a garden and art studio.

The Riverside day centre, run by charity the Camden Society, needs to raise £16,000 to turn its car park into a hive of activity for people with learning disabilities.

The charity plans to build raised accessible flower beds where they can teach gardening and grow food to be served in the kitchen, with some beds made available to the local community.

It also hopes to raise funds for an art studio for users of the day centre, as well as other community groups.

Almost £13,000 has already been raised towards the project thanks to a £10,000 pledge from the Mayor of London and other generous donations.

A charity dinner will be held at the Riverside centre in Cherry Gardens Street, off Jamaica Road, at 6.30pm on August 25 to help raise the remainder of the money.

A total of 60 tickets are available for £15 each and a silent auction and raffle will be held.

To buy tickets or donate prizes for the auction and raffle, email or call 07702050929.
