Are you dreaming of a blue Christmas?

While Bermondsey residents may be hoping for a covering of the white stuff this festive season, on Sunday it will instead be a very Blue Christmas.

The Yuletide shindig, sponsored by the Blue Bermondsey BID, will begin at 12pm on December 6 and boast everything from a professional escapologist to a “rodeo reindeer.”

There will be a host of other festive treats, including an ice rink, live music, a DJ, food and drink, face painting, Irish dancers and of course a Santa’s Grotto, where kids can put in gift requests to the big man himself.

There will also be a special Christmas market, something that organiser Russell Dryden, of the Bermondsey Blue BID, hopes will spark a desire for a bigger regular market throughout the year.

He told the News: “Over the last few years the event has been getting better and better. This year we’ve got 20 stalls, which will hopefully be almost a trial for a more regular weekend market.

“People always say ‘oh, we’d love to have a big market with the stalls in the street.’ That’s what we want too. We’d love to close off Southwark Park Road every now and then for a nice, weekend market.”

Get down and enjoy the fun from 12pm until 5.30pm at the Blue Market square in Southwark Park Road on Sunday December 6.
