Tower Bridge Care Home hosts open day featuring dance and cakes

Tower Bridge Care Home hosted an open day on June 17 as part of the National Care Home Open Day for the public see how it is run and to raise money for charity.

Home to 94 residents, the day featured a visit from a Pearly King and Queen, a cake sale, a dancing session and a competition to find the most inspiring life story of one of the residents.

Paulette Dixon, one of the organisers, said: “We’ve had a few people come from Southwark Council and quite a few volunteers and relatives who all had a nice day.

“There was arts and crafts and also a cake sale. We had a dance troupe come in too. It’s all a good opportunity for people to come in and see what a care home is like.”

A fundraising target of £100 was set for Marie Curie, a charity that provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness.
