Construction starts at Dulwich Health Centre

The new Dulwich Health Centre reached a major milestone last week with its first day of construction.

A traditional ground-breaking ceremony was held on Friday, July 20, with the Mayor of Southwark, councillor Catherine Rose, and Dulwich and West Norwood MP Helen Hayes in attendance.

They were joined by NHS bosses including NHS Bexley, Bromley and Southwark Clinical Commissioning Groups’ head of finance Malcolm Hines, and Malcolm Twite, the chief commercial officer at Community Health Partnerships.

The £16.8 million development will provide joined-up primary care, children’s service, some diagnostics, a physiotherapy unit, renal dialysis unit and community mental health services under one roof.

Ms Hayes said: “A new health centre has been needed in Dulwich for more than 20 years, and I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve got to this really important milestone.

“This has been a genuine collaboration between the local community and the council and the NHS services everyone in our local area relies on.”
