Bermondsey girl’s hike to Brighton to raise cash for Dementia UK

A Bermondsey woman will ramble 100km from London to Brighton with her mate to raise money for Dementia UK.

Anna Duncan and her co-worker Emma Blount will take on the mammoth march over rolling Surrey and Sussex countryside on the bank holiday Monday.

Anna, 29, said: “It was a moment of madness when we thought we are the fittest people in the world and signed up for the challenge. We have since realised we aren’t and are having to put in some serious effort.”

Emma added: “We are taking on the London to Brighton for Dementia UK because we want to see more Admiral Nurses [specialists in dementia] in London.

“Every day we provide support for the elderly in and around Westminster, helping them to remain in their own homes and we will often work closely with the Admiral Nurses.”

They both work for Home Instead Senior Care in Westminster & the City of London, based near Guy’s Hospital, and help co-ordinate nursing staff to homes across London. Fundraising has already started with a cake bake and there is a JustGiving page if you would like to help Anna and Emma please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Anna-Emma-Home-Instead.
