Pulling power in Herne Hill

Did you see two shire horses ploughing in Brockwell Park this week?

The gentle giants were helping to ready a patch of land near the BMX track. Later this month volunteers will sow it with wildflower seeds to create a new meadow.

The lovely equines were brought in by Operation Centaur, a horse and heritage group which helps protect rare breeds of working horses and encourage people to use traditional horse power, saying their low carbon footprint methods are due a revival.
