Woman rushed to hospital after collision on Rotherhithe New Road

A woman has been injured but is in a ‘stable condition’ after a ‘collision’ on Rotherhithe New Road shortly after 5pm this evening/

Emergency services have been called to the scene at the junction of Luxford Street, including  the police and London’s Air Ambulance Service.

The woman, believed to be in her thirties, was rushed to hospital, where her condition is said to be stable. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended,” said a police spokesperson.

“A woman, believed to be aged in her 30s, was taken to an east London hospital where she remains in a stable condition; her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”

A spokesperson for the Air Ambulance told the News: “London’s Air Ambulance advanced trauma team was dispatched via aircraft by London Ambulance Service at 17.06 today to reports of a road traffic accident in the Bermondsey area.

“After treatment on scene the patient was transferred by road to a major trauma hospital accompanied by London’s Air Ambulance.”

Buses are currently on diversion due to the collision, according to TfL.

“Routes 1 and 381 are diverted due to a collision on Rotherhithe New Road in Bermondsey,” it said in an update on its social media.

“Buses are diverting via Hawkstone Road and Lower Road – missing the stops at Warndon Street and Surrey Quays station.”
