Woman dies in Peckham fire

A woman has died after a fire in a first-floor Peckham flat last week.

The London Fire Brigade was called to the home in Dalwood Street at five-past-seven on Friday morning, April 26.

Four engines and around 25 firefighters tackled the blaze until it was brought under control by 8.43am.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus managed to find a woman and bring her outside, but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire, which has damaged part of the first floor, is now being investigated.
