Seventy firefighters brought a hotel blaze near Tower Bridge under control this evening.

The fire, which appears to be at Tooley Street’s Hilton, broke out shortly after 5.30pm on Friday, June 4.

Part of a tenth floor room was alight. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries.

Station Commander Paul Morgan said: “Crews worked quickly to contain the fire and stop it from spreading further.

“Crews are expected to remain on scene throughout the evening.

“Road closures are in place whilst firefighters continue to make the scene safe and we ask people to avoid the area.”
